Six Impossibly Beautiful Things

1. The exquisitely sculpted hip bone of a beautiful man.

2. The wrinkled brow of the newborn baby: damp, confused, unfamiliar.

3. Aiming your shutter at the sun to capture lens flare and secret rainbows.

4. The perfectly pointed toe of the ballerina, the elegant ending of a leg like an ellipsis.

5. Trying to describe purple; how it tastes, what it feels like and the way it would look next to your skin.

6. The hidden amber eyes of a cat sleeping in a circle.

Adventure

You know it's the place because it's just off the East Market metro stop and the front window is completely obscured by books and there is nowhere to stand because of all the books and all the signs that tell you how things are organized are written in messy, scrawled Sharpie and taped on with scotch tape. There was an entire section on Edwardian England and I found that totally fascinating, that in such a mess there would be something as specific and obscure as Edwardian England. It's like a book maze and books are piled everywhere and the staircase is super narrow and I could stay for days.
